The April 23, 2026 Immigration Practitioner Centre Continuing Professional Development Seminar’s Event Title is ‘Temporary Entry – Part Two’.

This seminar is the second in a three-part Continuing Professional Development series focused on Temporary Entry to Canada. The first seminar in the series took place on January 22, 2026, and the third is scheduled for August 20, 2026. Each seminar in the series runs for four hours.

‘Temporary Entry – Part Two’ addresses key areas of temporary immigration processing, including Temporary Resident Visas, Temporary Resident Permits, Study Permits, and Labour Market Impact Assessments.

The April 23, 2026 seminar features four experienced presenters who provide practical insights on the following topics:

  • Stephen Green, Lawyer – Temporary Entry: Overview and Updates
  • Divya Bakshi Arya, RCIC-IRB – Temporary Resident Permits: When, Where, Why, and How to Apply
  • Fred Y-F Li, RCIC-IRB – Completing a Study Permit Application (including Language Test Results), Common Refusals, and Corrective Measures
  • Cobus Kriek, RCIC – Labour Market Impact Assessments: Overview, Impediments, Business Legitimacy, and Genuineness of the Offer of Employment

Each presentation concludes with a dedicated Question-and-Answer session.
This three-part Temporary Entry series provides Immigration Practitioners with practical guidance and current insights into the processes and requirements related to temporary immigration to Canada.

MEET THE SPEAKERS

Fred Y-F Li

Student Applications - A Complete Student Application, Common Refusals and Corrective Measures
Fred Li is a Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant (RCIC) and Managing Director & Partner at an immigration practice firm in Richmond, BC. Fred obtained a Certificate from the UBC Immigration Practitioner Program in 2011 and became a practicing member of the Immigration Consultants of Canada Regulatory Council (ICCRC).

Fred Li has extensive experience specializing in Hearings & Appeals before the Immigration & Refugee Board of Canada, Immigration Investigations that are before the Canada Border Services Agency, Humanitarian & Compassionate applications, Family Class applications, various Skilled Worker applications that are applied through Express Entry or Provincial Nominee programs, Work & Study permit applications, Criminal Rehabilitation, Medical Inadmissibility, Citizenship applications, various Business Immigration applications and preparing Judicial Review applications before the Federal Court of Canada.

Fred is an avid volunteer and volunteers for non-profit organizations such as the Immigrant Services Society of BC and Access Pro Bono.

Divya Bakshi Arya is a highly experienced Immigration Consultant with more than 18 years of expertise in the field of immigration law. With her background as a foreign-trained lawyer and her extensive experience in Immigration Law since 2004, she has become a trusted adviser in all immigration-related matters.

Divya specializes in various areas of immigration, including spousal visas, work permits, business immigration, start-up investment visas, provincial nomination entrepreneur visas, and assisting corporates in hiring qualified foreign workers from around the world. Her broad range of specialization demonstrates her in-depth knowledge of the immigration landscape.

One of Divya's notable strengths is her representation of clients at Canadian visa offices outside of Canada. This experience equips her with the ability to provide comprehensive assistance and guidance to her clients throughout the different stages of visa applications. It also allows her to help them navigate the complexities of the immigration system with confidence and efficiency. 

Cobus Kriek

Labour Market Impact Assessments - Overview, Impediments, Business Legitimacy and Genuineness of Offer of Employment
Cobus Kriek is a Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant who is also the Managing Director of Matrixvisa Inc.


He completed his bachelor's degree in economics from the University of Stellenbosch and an Honours Degree in Economics from the University of South Africa.

He also completed a three-year Diploma in Export Management, majoring in International Trade Law. In 2002, he completed a Diploma in Immigration from Seneca College. He is a member in good standing with the College of Immigration and Citizenship Consultants (CICC). 

Stephen Green

Stephen Green is a Senior Partner at Green and Spiegel, certified as a Specialist in Immigration Law by The Law Society of Ontario with over 30 years of experience.

He has a proven track record of success in all areas of Canadian immigration law, particularly in corporate employee transfers, federal skilled worker applications, and investor applications. Stephen also leads the Investment and Entrepreneur Department, guiding experienced businesspeople and high net worth individuals through the investment process for Permanent Residence.
