The May 21, 2026 Immigration Practitioner Centre Continuing Professional Development Seminar’s Event Title is ‘International Adoptions, Passports, Family Class Sponsorship, Canadian Citizenship, and PR Card Renewals’.

This seminar examines the intersection of Family Class Sponsorship and Canadian Citizenship processing for minor children, including recent developments related to beyond first-generation limitations and applications for Proof of Citizenship. It also provides a comparative analysis of applying for Canadian Citizenship versus Permanent Resident Card renewal, outlining the advantages and disadvantages of each option.

The session concludes with updates on Canadian passport applications, including processing requirements, timelines, fees, and recent changes to the refund policy.

Ali Yamini-Ghaeshi

Presentation: Beyond First Generation Canadian Citizenship and Applying for Proof of Citizenship

Ali Yamini-Ghaeshi graduated in Immigration Consultant Diploma from Ashton College in 2013. In 2015, he established his immigration firm and started working in North America and Iran.

His firm provides the full range of Canadian immigration services to foreign individuals, small enterprises and multinationals alike. The firm has been active in offering services for various Canadian Immigration programs with over 500 successful applications over the years in various categories such as student visas, work classes, business and investment categories, and all other immigration programs.

He also has participated in many immigration seminars and workshops in different countries like Canada, France, and Germany,

Ali also is a graduated civil engineer from one of the top universities in Iran. He enjoys imparting his knowledge to other people and educates willing persons.

He is very good at communicating with people and his practices as an immigration consultant have made him a good lecturer.

Canadian Passport Processing – Application Process, Processing Times, Fees, and Refund Policy

Fred Li is a Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant (RCIC) and Managing Director & Partner at an immigration practice firm in Richmond, BC. Fred obtained a Certificate from the UBC Immigration Practitioner Program in 2011 and became a practicing member of the Immigration Consultants of Canada Regulatory Council (ICCRC).

Fred Li has extensive experience specializing in Hearings & Appeals before the Immigration & Refugee Board of Canada, Immigration Investigations that are before the Canada Border Services Agency, Humanitarian & Compassionate applications, Family Class applications, various Skilled Worker applications that are applied through Express Entry or Provincial Nominee programs, Work & Study permit applications, Criminal Rehabilitation, Medical Inadmissibility, Citizenship applications, various Business Immigration applications and preparing Judicial Review applications before the Federal Court of Canada.

Fred is an avid volunteer and volunteers for non-profit organizations such as the Immigrant Services Society of BC and Access Pro Bono. 

Ardalan Ansari

Application for Grant of Canadian Citizenship (Adults) versus PR Card Renewal

Amir Ardalan Ansari is a Senior Immigration Consultant with over seven years of practice. They lead Ansari Immigration and Startup Roadway, a Vancouver-based incubator supporting founders through the Start-Up Visa program and post-LOS growth.

Their work focuses on business immigration (Start-Up Visa, IMP/C12, entrepreneur PNPs), as well as Express Entry and study-to-PR strategies.

Amir teaches multiple CPD courses for immigration practitioners, mentors early-stage founders in Canada, and has hosted and spoken at several start-up seminars across Vancouver.

They work in English and Farsi and are known for providing clear, practical guidance grounded in real-world cases. 

Krisha Dhaliwal

Canadian Passport Processing – Application Process, Processing Times, Fees, and Refund Policy

Krisha was called to the British Columbia bar in 2016 and is a Partner at Larlee Rosenberg. She began her career at the firm as an articling student and has grown her practice alongside the firm, advising individuals and employers across a range of sectors, including construction, engineering, education, technology, and non-profits. Krisha specializes in assisting clients with work permits and permanent residency applications through economic, regional, and family-based programs. In addition to her legal practice, Krisha has maintained an academic interest in immigration law. She completed a research-intensive Master of Laws degree at the University of Toronto in 2020, focusing on Canadian immigration and international law, while continuing to serve her clients.

Krisha is a frequent writer and presenter on immigration law topics and has an extensive background in non-profit and public sector governance. She has served as a director and committee member in higher education, professional regulation, and for a variety of community and legal non-profit organizations. She also co-founded a legal clinic that provides multilingual, low-barrier pro bono legal services to underserved populations across British Columbia.

Krisha’s practice is defined by her commitment to excellence, client service, and advocacy in immigration law, alongside her dedication to community engagement and access to justice.
