ABOUT THIS SEMINAR

The October 9, 2025 Continuing Professional Development Seminar, titled “Business Management and Professionalism – Part Two,” is presented by the Immigration Practitioner Centre (IPC) at Ashton College and delivered through AshtonLive.

The first seminar in this series took place on February 6, 2025. This seminar runs for two hours and provides RCICs with one CPD hour in Professionalism and one CPD hour in Business Management.

This seminar focuses on strengthening Immigration Practitioners’ knowledge of marketing and managing an immigration practice. The session emphasizes the importance of developing professional strategies for both promoting and managing their immigration practice effectively.

The October 9, 2025 seminar features two experienced presenters who provide practical insight and guidance:

  • Neha Batta, RCIC-IRB– Marketing One’s Immigration Practice
  • Hjalmar Leon, RCIC-IRB – Managing One’s Immigration Practice

Further CPD seminars on effective practice promotion and management are scheduled for 2026. 

Pre-Approved for 2 CPD hours by the College of Immigration and Citizenship Consultants and the Law Society of BC.

MEET THE SPEAKERS

Neha Batta 

RCIC-IRB

Marketing One’s Immigration Practice 

Neha Batta is a seasoned Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant (RCIC-IRB) with several years of experience navigating the complexities of Canadian immigration law. She holds a Certificate in Immigration: Law, Policies, and Procedures from the University of British Columbia and a Master’s degree in Technology.

Neha is the owner of Orion Immigration Services, and with a deep understanding of Canadian immigration policies and procedures, she provides consulting services to individuals, families, and businesses on a wide range of immigration matters. Over the past 17+ years, she has acquired extensive knowledge and experience in various domains, including Education, Customer Service, Aerospace, Customer Experience Management, Banking, and E-commerce.

As an immigrant herself, Neha understands the challenges of moving to a new country and the emotional weight it carries. She approaches each case with empathy and understanding, recognizing the profound impact immigration decisions can have on her clients' lives.

Beyond her work as an immigration consultant, Neha is actively involved in the immigration and immigrant communities. Breaking barriers, encouraging women to pursue careers in Technology, mentoring women to grow into leadership positions at work, and integrating immigrants into the Canadian work environment are some of the causes Neha is passionate about. 

Hjalmar Leon 

RCIC-IRB 

Managing One’s Immigration Practice 

Hjalmar received a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Los Andes in South America, a Master of Business Administration in Global Management from the University of Phoenix in 2000, and a Professional Specialization in Public Sector Management from the University of Victoria. He also graduated from Ashton College with a diploma in Immigration Consulting.

Hjalmar's immigration consulting practice focuses on temporary residence applications and family sponsorship programs. In addition to his immigration practice, he has also represented individuals and corporations in administrative matters.

Hjalmar is fully fluent in Spanish. He is also a collaborator and an active board member for several non-profit organizations in the province of British Columbia.
